Amy runs for the Foundation

May 9, 2013

On May 6-7, Amy Palmiero-Winters, the founder of the One Step Ahead Foundation, took on the inaugural Badwater: Salton Sea 81-mile ultramarathon to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation. The entire race was uphill, with a total elevation gain of 9,000 feet from start to finish. In addition, about half of the race was on dirt, trails, or unpaved roads, adding to the challenge of running through constant wind and rain during the latter half.  As part of a three-person team with fellow runners Russ Reinbolt, MD and Nathan Longcrier, Amy ran from Salton City to Palomar Mountain in California in 24:47.
